About Project
VR-Technologies, an innovative design bureau of the Russian Helicopters holding company, asked Tsuru Robotics to design avionics for its new autonomous drones. The drones are – helicopters (70 kg payload, 600 km range).
Tsuru Robotics only designed hardware. The onboard equipment, we created, includes, among other things, an inertial navigation system, an air pressure module, a flight computer node. All our blocks allow installation with a backup version. That means you can install almost as many as you want for duplication in case of failure. Moreover, each block is also powered by two backup lines.
A ground control unit, the so-called quick command console, was also developed. This remote control gives basic tasks to the drone — take off, fly to a certain point, return to the base, and so on.
To develop and test electronics, we had to write low-level software-drivers. They were integrated into high-level software that was already created by the customer for prototypes.
