About project
The project was carried out on the request from The Federal Siberian Research Clinical Centre under the Federal Medical-Biological Agency. The objective – a timely delivery of biomaterials. To complete the objective we launched the fully automated drone to fly from Tatyshev Island all the way to the roof of The Federal Siberian Research Clinical Center in Krasnoyarsk.
The flight went well: to deliver test tubes with blood the machine covered the distance of more than 2.5 miles in 7 minutes at an average speed of about 25 miles per hour. We used a drone with 6 propellers, 2 feet in size and the load capacity of 1.1 pounds.
The decision to use the model with 6 propellers was made to increase the reliability of the system – the machine could fly even if 1 or 2 propellers malfunction.
We didn’t control the drone externally: the coordinates were uploaded to the autopilot system. Moreover, the special device calculated the optimal speed for the drone to make the most distance without losing control. That data was also uploaded to the autopilot. The flight to Krasnoyarsk was just the first step in making the biomaterial delivery system. Tsuru Robotics continue to pursue this project.
